Beware of fake colleges and Universities

A student from Pune after completing his 12th class decided to do engineering from an institution which is widely publicized in TV and newspapers. After completing 4 years in the college he came to know that college is not AICTE approved and four years of his life are wasted and so the money. He has nowhere to go.

This is one story of the many such incidents which take place every day in the country and at the end the affected person can do nothing but to curse his fate. But before cursing his fate he should question himself who is responsible for his situation college or he himself? The answer is very simple. He himself is responsible to drag himself in such situation. If he is not moved by the attractive advertisements of the college and have collected information about the college, then surely he would have completed his engineering with flying colors.

There is a very old proverb “All that glitters is not gold” which means you should not be moved only by seeing the outer picture, you should use your mind to decide what is write and what is wrong.

Today India is widely affected by the fraud universities and colleges, who without affiliation run the various courses. Many a time they are caught but after sometime again start their business. In some cases the universities has permission to run one course but not the other but college run both the courses. For Example if an engineering college is allowed to run mechanical branch but not the civil branch, many times it is seen that college take admission also for civil branch which finally can lead to nothing.

It is also seen that colleges take access admissions i.e. the college takes admission on 90 seats even when it has permission for only 60 seats.

Now the question arises how to find whether the college/University is not fake and courses offered are also granted permission. For this you can view the website of affiliation providing agency. Like AICTE for engineering colleges, Medical Council of India for Medical colleges and so on. You can visit website of UGC to view real universities.UGC himself time to time take out circular stating the names of fake universities.
