Coordinating Minister for State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) Mustafa Abubakar vowed double track railway linking Jakarta with Surabaya will be on construction prior to 2013.
"We'll be developing double track railway for Jakarta-Surabaya route before 2013," said Mustafa on Friday.
As reported, a consortium of SOEs are soon to work on Jakarta-Surabaya double track railway covering 780 kilometers of distance at Rp6.5 trillion of budget.
The consortium consists of PT Kereta Api (KAI), PT Jasa Marga Tbk (JSMR), and other SOEs. The estimated fund for the project is lower in amount than the subsidies prepared by the government worth Rp9 trillion.
Indonesia only have few double track railways, adding the Jakarta-Cirebon and Kutoarjo-Yogyakarta-Solo into the list.
